Bus Duct
Enclosed busbar system for high-current power transmission — a compact alternative to heavy cables.
A bus duct (or busway) is a compact, metal-enclosed system using copper or aluminium bars (busbars) inside a grounded duct to efficiently transmit high electrical currents as an alternative to heavy power cables — ideal for industrial, commercial, and large building power distribution, with easy installation, modularity, scalability, and safety.
Key Components
- Bus bars — copper or aluminium conductors, sized to the current rating
- Housing — a steel or aluminium enclosure protecting the bars and personnel
- Insulating system — a combination of epoxy, air and Mylar between conductors and enclosure
- Fittings — offsets, elbows and tees for routing between connections
Handles large currents (2000A+) with low voltage drop and minimal heat, and is compact compared to bulky cable systems.
Types
- Non-segregated — conductors share one enclosure with no barriers between phases
- Segregated phase — barriers separate each phase within the enclosure
- Isolated phase — each conductor fully enclosed and separated, for heavy-duty generator/transformer connections
Applications: power distribution from transformers to switchgear, connecting generators to main panels, powering machinery in industrial plants, and vertical power risers in high-rise buildings.
- Available Features
- Bus duct rated up to 6000 A
