An APFC Panel (Automatic Power Factor Correction Panel) is an intelligent electrical system that automatically maintains an optimal power factor in an electrical network, preventing costly penalties and improving energy efficiency by switching capacitor banks on/off to match the system's reactive power needs — crucial for industries with inductive loads like motors and transformers. How it works: continuously monitors the system's power factor using sensors and microprocessors; detects lagging power factor caused by inductive loads; automatically switches capacitor bank units in or out to compensate for reactive power; aims to keep power factor near unity (1.0) for maximum efficiency. Benefits: reduces electricity bills by avoiding utility penalties for poor power factor; improves efficiency by reducing current flow, voltage drops and heat in cables/transformers; increases usable distribution capacity; protects equipment through stable power.
