Distribution Board

General-purpose panelboard splitting an incoming supply into protected branch circuits.

A distribution board (DB), also called a panelboard or fuse box, is the central control point in an electrical system that takes incoming power and splits it into smaller, safer circuits for a building — housing circuit breakers or fuses to protect each line from overloads and faults, ensuring safe and organized power delivery to lights, outlets, and appliances. Divides one main power feed into multiple branch circuits for different areas or devices; contains circuit breakers or fuses (MCBs, RCDs) that automatically cut power to a circuit during a short circuit or overload; acts as a central hub where circuits can be switched on/off and monitored. In essence, it's the nervous system of a building's electricity, making sure power gets where it needs to go safely and efficiently.
