A Local Control Panel (LCP) is a field-mounted interface for operating, monitoring, and protecting equipment directly at its location — featuring switches, buttons, indicators, and sometimes PLCs for local start/stop, status checks, and overrides, reducing reliance on central control rooms and improving response time in industrial settings. Houses an HMI (buttons, switches, indicator lights, E-stops, sometimes touchscreens), control logic (compact PLCs, terminal blocks, power supplies), and monitoring gauges (ammeters, voltmeters). Provides direct operation of machinery like pumps, conveyors and compressors, visual status indication, emergency stop capability, and reduces long cable runs by acting as a remote I/O point. Typical applications: industrial automation of individual process units, local control of generators/transformers/switchgear, pumping station control, and building services like ventilation and lighting.
